what brush to use for polymer guns?

what brush to use for polymer guns?

Not a 941 thread, but I suppose I could ask the ones that use polymer 941s. My bro is waiting on my FFL to take delivery of a new S&W M&P9, which has a polymer receiver with a metal slide. Would you still use a brass brush to clean the receiver if it gets dirty, or would the brass be too abrasive on the polymer? I do have nylon brushes he could use, but those things are so soft that I don't think any residue would come off.

I have been using nylon brushes with my Glocks for 20+ yrs now w/ no problems.

Would you advise against using the brass brushes to clean the receivers?

If nylon works as well as you said, I'll just give my bro some of my nylon brushes.

Bottom line is I wouldn't use any metal brush on a poly part. As for the metal upper I see no problems. That being said, the nylon has always worked for me on both.

Sounds good. I'll pass that advice on to my bro.

harkamus, boscoman +1 and ditto. I have in my cleaning kit, the old M16 thick-n-thin double ended poly bristle brush for delicate work. They are available separately or available in the old M16 issued cleaning kit for a couple bucks.
